Please be aware the ruined shell of Gardener’s Cottage has now been fenced off for safety reasons but can be viewed from a short distance.
The last house on the east side of the Village was the gardener’s, another of Uncle John’s additions, built on the same plan as Museum Cottage but with no entrance at the back. This was intended to eliminate draughts from opposite outer doors but, rather naturally, was not appreciated by the housewives who inhabited the house.
