Please be aware the ruined shell of Laundry Cottages has now been fenced off for safety reasons but can be viewed from a short distance.
Both laundry cottages faced south, so that the stone-flagged walk before their doors and the two seep porches made the most of the sun. Theirs was the pleasantest position in the village, warm and sheltered, close to chuech and street, but not too crowded by the neighbours.

Here Mrs Taylor reigned for many years, a cheerful bustling soul with a genial word for everyone she met and an infectious laugh. She ran the laundry, coped efficiently with her family and was official caretaker to the church and school as well.

The laundry arrived every Monday morning in two huge wicker hampers delivered by my stepbrother in his cart
