Downside schoolboy’s skull fractured
Roderick Maurice Fitzgerald ffrench-Mullen, aged 14, of Downside School , near Bath, whose parents are in India, was killed when he was thrown from a horse at Worbarrow Bay, Dorset, yesterday. He was spending part of his holiday with his uncle, Mr Desmond Nicholas Fitzgerald, a company director, at Tyneham, Boscastle, and went for a ride with his riding master. The horse was about to cross a small wooden bridge over a stream when it momentarily stopped. The boy was thrown, and pitched heavily on his head. His skull was fractured, and he died before an ambulance arrived.
